Non-Armed Dispensary Security / Guest Intake Associate

The Security & Guest Intake Associate is responsible for maintaining a safe and compliant environment at the dispensary while providing professional customer service during customer check-in and lobby operations. This role ensures all guests meet New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC) requirements prior to entry and assists retail staff with operational support when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Security & Safety
- Maintain a visible security presence to deter theft and disruptive behavior
- Monitor store entrances, exits, and customer traffic flow
- Observe and report suspicious activity or safety concerns
- Ensure all security procedures and emergency protocols are followed
- Maintain awareness of surveillance cameras and store security systems
Customer Check-In
- Verify customer identification and age (21+) in compliance with NJ CRC regulations
- Scan IDs and confirm entry eligibility
- Manage lobby traffic and wait lists during peak periods
- Provide first point-of-contact customer service for guests
Retail Support
- Assist budtenders with POS checkout during busy periods if trained as/if needed
- Ensure customers follow store policies while inside the dispensary
Compliance
- Ensure all guests & team members comply with NJ cannabis regulations
- Maintain accurate visitor logs if required
- Assist management during compliance inspections
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior security, hospitality, or retail experience preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-traffic environments
- Must pass background check and obtain NJ Cannabis CRC badge if required
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior cannabis industry experience
- Loss prevention or retail security experience
- Experience using POS systems
- CPR / First Aid certification
